Year One

I happened to be reviewing some of my old posts and I realized that I have actually been blogging for a year now.  My blogiversary kinda snuck up on me.  Here are a few of the things I've learned over the past year.

  • It's hard to write consistently - With a few exceptions, I've blogged every week since I started this site.  I would like to blog more, but at this point I'm ok with the frequency of my posts.  It's not easy to come up with topics and put down your thoughts week after week.  You really have to be intentional.
  • There is alot to learn - There is always more to learn about blogging.  Designing your site.  Editing code.  Networking with other bloggers.  Adding widgets/gadgets.  Sometimes it hard to settle on just how you want to approach each facet of blogging.  There are so many options and so many people to learn from.  I don't think anybody fully masters everything.
  • You can never be sure what people will think - There are posts that a really didn't put much thought into that people loved.  There are other posts that I really liked, that didn't seem to resonate with anybody.  Don't try to over think things.  Write stuff that is meaningful to you and trust that it will impact the people it should.

There will certainly be more lessons in the years to come.  If you blog, what are some of the lessons you've learned on your blog journey?
