It's interesting that despite all the possibilities, we generally end up conforming to some sort of pre-defined pattern of existence.  Even with Jesus (the most creative being in the universe) we're still uncomfortable doing new things or doing old things in new ways.  I had some thoughts as reading the following verse last night with my fiance:

"God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 3:10"

This verse tells me that we were designed to live lives that express various facets of God's wisdom.  Not to be copies that get churned out on life's conveyor belt.  It feels more comfortable to approach the world as if there were an generic path that suited everyone's destination--but deep down, I think we all know that doesn't work.  The problem is we're afraid to embrace the uncertainty of the alternative.  

It's scary to do something that you've never seen done before.  It's difficult to follow Christ on a path that leads to a life that you've never seen modeled.  But I think that's why we're here.  To allow Christ to live through us in such a way that people see life in a way they've never seen it.  To live life with a joy, a peace, a strength that goes beyond what others thought possible.  To display a level of creativity and ingenuity that causes people to stand in awe of it's Source.

And on top of all of this, there are unknown numbers of people waiting for us to break the mold and to live the way we were created to live because they will benefit.  Their lives are affected by our willingness (or unwillingness) to obey the voice of God and be instruments to showcase His wisdom in ways that the world has yet to see.
