I enjoy reflecting on life. Right now, I'm in a place of transition--trying to decipher what's next and getting ready for marriage. As much as I'm looking forward to the future, I want to appreciate this time in my life. I think that one day, I will look back and fully value this stage of my life and ministry. The people around me now won't always be around me. The experiences I have now may be unique to this period of my life.
It's almost like the way I look back on my college, high school, and childhood days. These are all times that I would not choose to relive, but which I value and appreciate today because of the lessons I learned during those seasons. I see now that they were special periods of my life that have prepared me for the future.
It's like when you've already seen a movie once, you can watch it a second time and take note of the little twists and turns along the way that propelled the plot to it's climax and resolution. The problem is that when you're watching for the first time, you miss or undervalue things that turn out to be really important in the end.
This is the first time we've lived; and life passes by so quickly that it's not always easy to really understand the value and purpose of each stage while it's in progress. I'm going to do my best to do just that though. Thank You Lord for today. Thank You for this life.
Is it possible to see the purpose of this stage of your life and put it in the context of your life as a whole? Are you paying attention to this season of your life?
